Ever wander why we can only see light waves (energy waves) with wavelength of 390-750 nm because nature thinks that we would be only needing that much as per our living
conditions of earth.But even birds and even bees and insect with smaller capacity brain can perceive the infrared wavelength not visible to us.Ok we might agree that some creature living in certain underground environment that never needs to come out or a organism that lives in deep sea water might need to use the ability to perceive the ultraviolate wavelength but why the birds and bees, they rarely stay indoor also and always up in the air with exposure to visible spectrum of light.Because they needs these wavelength light to do some special function like bee needs to find the honey and birds needs to know if the partner is sexually active looking into there feather.
SO the questions is if these very primitive animals can process these additional wavelength using there smaller brain celles how the processing ability of the human brain be less than them as we have evolved so very much than them.
How can all the living organism have a body of protins and atleast have a DNA and RNA helical structer in them.
How can our ear is just to ear and our eye is just to see our nose is just to smell skin to touch and tongue is to taste only and they are so highly specialized in the ares of the use.There are animals like snake that use the skin vibration to hear.They dont have ear yet they can hear.That means at least ear is not the only thing that makes us hear.And moreover none of the sense organs are made to do any specific things if you looks at a broader level these are the things that created by the infinite intelligence to sense the energy in different forms.The sense might have some ability to do other work as well . For example some blind men can actually see things in there brain by touching things, and we all accept that,whats the problem with that.But can you imagine the human brain has the ability to hear and see certain things or it can smell and see certain things.Yes how impossible it might sound but it has .We might not need to see visually to see things although how much detail is yet to be explored and this can be at a very primitive level as we have already forgotten the ability.And our sences have evolved that.We perceive everything in our brain , our eyes dont see things , our skin does not feel a thing and our ear don not hear a thing these are only small energy receptor that enables the free flow of enery pulses to the brain in terms of raw data and then the brain processes the raw data into meaningful info and creates an illusion that is somehow meaningful to the person and previos believes and experience.So everything that you see, feel or hear is a manifestation of your own brain.For example the whales and elephants can emitt and infrasonic waves and perceive these waves of other elephant and whales.These are larger mammals and even we can't perceive these waves.We can however create an instrument and then make these wave impact that instrument and then convert that to our audible frequency to hear them.So if we cant perceive the infrasonic waves how do we get frightened by these waves when played without any audible waves.Even these waves
consists the major parts of a lions roar.

It was a bit out of the ordinary, but Wit thought nothing of it as the sun rose. There was work to do.

Luckily, Wit survived the tsunami. More than 200,000 other people around the Indian Ocean weren’t so lucky.
The elephants? They were fine too. Wit and many others believe it’s because they knew the wave was coming. And scientists say there’s a possibility that Wit is right. That’s because elephants are among a handful of animals known to be able to hear “infrasound,” the extremely low-frequency rumbles that are produced by natural phenomena from earthquakes and volcanoes to heavy winds and avalanches.
In fact, studies have shown that they use infrasound — which can travel vast distances through the ground, air, and water — to carry on long-distance conversations. Researchers have homed in on these “invisible” communications in just the last few decades, as sophisticated microphones and recording equipment allowed them to listen in.
Now, infrasound researchers wonder whether some animals can hear danger approaching. For instance, big storms such as hurricanes produce their own distinctive infrasonic
signature. Similarly, earthquakes can produce several distinct infrasound pulses that can travel thousands of miles and much faster than water. Thus, tsunamis, also triggered by earthquakes, hit the shores only after infrasound.

In Thailand, it’s possible that Wit’s elephants picked up these signals before the wave hit, prompting them to trumpet their fear and then flee. But we may never know for sure.
Elephants carrying radio tags in the region may have offered important insight. Unfortunately, researchers lost contact with the tagged elephants eight hours prior to the
tsunami. When they regained transmission an hour after the tsunami hit, they found the elephants in the same vicinity as they were prior to the tsunami — just a few hundred feet from the shore. It is impossible to know exactly what happened while the transmitters were down.
Studies in zoos show that even animals known to hear infrasound don’t necessarily become agitated when they hear the signals. But researchers also note that the animals in zoos are so frequently subjected to infrasound, from their urban setting, that they may be desensitized. Scientists say carrying out experiments in the wild that might settle the matter once and for all would be very difficult and expensive.
But researchers are learning more about infrasound through other kinds of studies. Alligator researchers, for instance, are cracking the code that these huge reptiles use to signal their mates. Among other things, they’ve learned that alligators can produce an array of infrasonic signals by vibrating air inside special sound-producing sacs in their
chins.
Other researchers are studying the idea that infrasonic sound can produce emotions in people. To test this, they asked people at a concert to rate their emotional responses to several pieces of music, some of which had been secretly “spiced” with infrasonic noises. More than a quarter of the listeners reported that the infrasonic melodies produced “ghostly” feelings of anxiety, uneasiness, sorrow, fear, and chills down the spine. Infrasonic sound can also make people nauseous and sick.
Those physical and emotional reactions may explain why horror movies used to feature scary, low-pitched organ music, the researchers say. And perhaps why animals too get scared when they hear a mysterious, infrasonic pulse.

Now if size is anyindicator that bigger animals produce infrasound guess what type of animals that should be producing the ultrasound wave.Yes you are right its the relatively smaller animals like bat,insects,roodents,cattle,fish and only one anomaly whale again.Now again if size is any indicator and you plot a size in mass vs frequency in Hz graph of these animals and the frequency they can hear the graph indicates that if its any indicator then there will be very few animals of bigger size than us in the earth however there will be millions of animals that can be smaller to a very small level present here.
